As a special education advocate I'm here to help families understand their rights and secure the educational support students with disabilities are entitled to receive. My main purpose is to protect the rights of children with disabilities and ensure they receive appropriate education under laws such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
We ask the right questions to assist you in understanding your child’s needs.
♦ Is your child having a hard time learning functional concepts?
♦ Does your child become overwhelmed with homework?
♦ Have schoolmates stopped including your child?
♦ Can your child independently follow two or three directions?
♦ Does frustration interfere with your child’s functioning?
♦ Do jokes make sense to your child?
♦ Is keeping a backpack, desk, belongings, organized impossible?
♦ Is your child bothered by tags, seams, textures or noises?
♦ Does your child misinterpret what you tell them?
♦ Can your child follow the behavior expectations at school?
